“I’m very contra my constituency in terms of abortion because I’m positively against it. I don’t have the right to any other view. My only emotion is gratitude, literally, for my life.”
– Jack Nicholson on his adoption
And every adoptive parent feels pretty much the same way.
A great post from a Right To Life organization.
Facts about a baby’s development:
At the moment of conception, when a zygote is formed by the unision of a sperm cell and an egg, that zygote has its own unique DNA and all of its genetic makeup and future characteristics are there. That is a new being, not part of a “woman’s own body”. By 18 days, a fetus has a beating heart. By 6-7 weeks, a fetus has electrical brain activity going on. At 7.5 weeks, a fetus responds to stimuli (it touches and has the sense of feel). A baby has all body systems fully formed by week 8. By 9 weeks a fetus can squint, swallow, move their tongue, and make a fist. By 10.5 weeks when the mouth region is touched, a fetus will move their head in response. By 11 weeks, there are spontaneous breathing movements, fingernails, and ALL of the body systems are fully functioning.
For Liberals to admit that any of what you have said is relevant is to require them to take personal responsibility to an extent they refuse to consider. A woman’s right to kill is an essential piece of their concept of freedom and social justice, which tells you something about their worldview. With all the inexpensive birth control methods available today, they continue to insist upon treating unborn human life as a mere physical appendage.
Nobody tries to take away your right to use a condom. Nobody hammers into your head that you should feel guilty and shameful about preventing your gift-from-God sperm from fertilizing an egg and thus ensuring the birth of a beautiful child. No politician tells you using condoms makes you a slut. Nobody bombs a convenience store that sells condoms, threatens people who put condom vending machines in areas, or attacks politicians who support condom use.
Abortion as birth control, the singularly most selfish and unjustifiable and irresponsible argument for abortion. Does the writer above even hear herself???? Buy the condoms, take the pill, abstain, but don’t claim the right to kill unborn children because you were too fucking stupid, high, careless or just plain lazy. It’s an inhuman position.
- I’m against unnecessary wars.
- I am against hunger and poverty; the Catholic Church is the world’s biggest charitable organization.
- I am against homelessness; I’ve raised money and taken part in events to help build homes in third-world countries, among other things.
- I love the earth.
- I am against the death penalty unless it is the only way to keep others safe from a convicted criminal.
- I support human rights.
- I am all for education and jobs.
- I couldn’t be for ANY of these things unless I wanted everyone to be born. You can do none of these things or be any of these things if you aren’t born first.
And more often than not, pro-lifers fit all of the above “criteria”. And pro-choicers don’t get to determine exactly what pro-lifers have to do to BE pro-life, anyway. Stop trying to change the subject at hand.
yes we do ! thank you for posting this
That’s tellin’ them. They’re better than you, even if they do advocate killing unborn babies. They’re against the planet’s degradation for Christ’s sake! They’re against homelessness! How wonderful and selfless and sensitive and caring can a person be? So shape up. Cut them some slack. Let them excuse with their list of self-righteous attitudes their ultimately inhuman support for abortion, frequent and easy. Typical. Liberals.
Beautiful Anon (via teenontheright)
Ball of cells. Right. It’s all about controlling your vagina. Right. There is so much feminist shit peddled to obscure the simple fact that abortion stops a beating human heart. It is capital punishment for an innocent new life. My daughter is adopted. So is her son. We have nothing but gratitude for the brave women who decided not to kill their unborn children, but rather to allow them to have their lives in other families. I don’t make a religious statement here, just a humanistic one.
Abortion in the third trimester? I’d like to put that Doctor in jail.
LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE STORY.
once upon a time, back in the early 90s, there was a young woman who had gotten pregnant. she was only 23, thought she was in a commited relationship, and was in college.
and one day, she got pregnant.
unsure what to do with the situation, she walked into a planned parenthood clinic in Richmond, where she thought she would get rid of her problem.
until she took a look around her, realized she had a support system, and chose to have her child, which ended up to be the person who wrote this post.
let me tell you, the keyword is CHOICE. my mother has always been pro-choice, she raised me pro-choice, and told me that women should have control over her body NO MATTER THE SITUATION. it was her choice to have me. if she got pregnant again, it would be her choice not to have it. and if you called her “pro-life”, she’d punch you in the face.
How does this relate to killing an unborn child, except to argue against it? Your mom came to her senses, although she sounds hung up on protecting other women’s right not to. Abortion as birth control seems immoral to me. Have the baby. Let the choice be to make him/her a gift to some childless couple. Life is precious. If you create one, don’t throw it away.
