In the home I’m selling, where I have lived for 21 years, I have lots of built in bookshelves. Most of them were full. I say were because we have given away most of our books to the local library. We’ve moved only about a hundred. And our new place has only one wall of shelves and we use only about half of those shelves for books. Why? The Kindle. Sorry. I am no lover of the feel and smell of books. I mean, come on. They’re big and clunky and heavy to carry around. I have more than a hundred books on my Kindle with the ability order more almost instantaneously. And I know most library systems will be lending everything in digital form sooner than later. So this particular picture represents a dying age. Nothing wrong with that. After the war or the massive climate apocalypse or the next plague, maybe all this digital stuff will become inaccessible. Then we’ll be shooting each other to get at those clunky old paper artifacts. Until then, I’m a Kindle kind of guy.
That’s a Moravian star!
